Pipe, a newly launched app for Facebook lets you send files to friends and family, even if they aren't online at that moment. The great thing about using an app that integrates with Facebook over another service is that both parties are probably using Facebook already. You won't have to instruct a friend or loved one to download and sign up for something new just to share a file. Ready to send something? Here's how:
Step 1: Connect the Pipe app to your Facebook account.
You'll need to visit their Web site: https://apps.facebook.com/pipeapp and then give the app permission to access your timeline and messages. Pipe does not send messages that you have not authorized.
Step 2: Click the Friends button in the top left-hand corner of the Pipe app to find someone to send a file to.
Step 3: The pipe displayed on the screen also serves as the button for selecting a file to send. Click there and then locate the file you want to share on your hard drive, up to 1GB in size.
If your friend is online:
You'll see a box pop up where you can include a personalized
message. Then just click Send File Now and you're set. The app will tell
you that it is sending, the file name, the size of the file, percentage
completed, and lastly the amount transferred out of the total size.
Either party can cancel the transfer at any time.
If your friend is offline:
Pipe will give you an option for how long you'd like the file to
remain in the cloud "Locker." You can choose between 1 and 5 days. The
next time your friend is on Facebook, they will receive message stating
that a file is waiting for them to download.

1 Pull the USB flash drive out of your computer's USB port. Check the bottom end and sides of the drive to see if it has a write protection switch. Push the plastic switch into the "Unlock" position.
2 Insert the USB flash drive back into the USB port. Close the pop-up window that appears and navigate to the Start menu. Select "My Computer."
3 Locate the drive letter that corresponds to your USB flash drive in the "My Computer" window, such as "F:\" or "D:\." Double-click the drive letter. Attempt to use one of the files on the drive. Right-click one of the files if you still receive a write protection error and select "Properties."

VLC media player is one of the most popular

VLC includes a basic DVD ripper. You probably would never use it when there are better DVD rippers available, but it helps to know that you can in fact, get a decent quality DVD rip with VLC. To rip a movie follow these steps: Go to the Media menu and choose Convert–>Save. Click on the Disc tab.
Here you can adjust the Starting Position and rip only specific titles or chapters.
Enter file name making sure to end with .MPG, and start ripping.

With the new VLC, you can record videos during playback. The record button is hidden by default. To see it, click on View–>Advanced Control. The record button will now appear. Clicking on the button while playing a movie or video will start recording. Clicking again will stop recording.
3. Play RAR files:
Do you know VLC can play videos zipped inside RAR files? They play like normal video files and you can even use the seek bar. If the RAR file is split into several files, no problem. In VLC you can convert video and audio files from one format to another. Several different formats are supported like MP4, WMV, AVI, OGG, MP3 etc. To access the converter:

7. Download YouTube and other online videos:
First grab the URL of the YouTube video page. Now click on Media –>Open Network stream. Paste the URL and click Play.

VLC includes hundreds of Shoutcast radio stations. You just need to enable it through Media –>Services Discovery –> Shoutcast radio listings. Now, open the Playlist and browse through the stations.
6. Convert Audio and Video formats:
In VLC you can convert video and audio files from one format to another. Several different formats are supported like MP4, WMV, AVI, OGG, MP3 etc. To access the converter:
* Go to Media –>Convert/Save.
* Load the file you want to convert using the Add button and click Convert.
* Now choose the output format and output file location.
7. Download YouTube and other online videos:
First grab the URL of the YouTube video page. Now click on Media –>Open Network stream. Paste the URL and click Play.
Once VLC starts streaming the video, click Tools –>Codec Information and at the bottom of the window you will see a Location box. Copy the URL and paste it on your browser’s address bar. The browser will now download the file which you can save it to your hard disk. Alternatively, you can record the video.
