4 Improvements in Google Analytics Real-Time

Google Analytics Real-time report is a powerful tool which tells insights of your online business. It works instantaneously, like when you run online marketing campaigns on Search Engines or on any social sites, you do expect to see the results. Real time provides intelligence, giving insights of live visitors present on your site. You can take greater advantage from this tool by writing on trendy topics and getting it to spread over the web. You will see a sudden boost in your site traffic simply because you wrote something on a hot topic which people were looking forward to read.
So Google have made 4 improvements to real-time reports
  1. You can now analyze events in real-time
  2. Google have given more flexibility to see real-time traffic by Desktop/Mobile/Tablet
  3. You can now create shortcuts to your favorite real-time segments.
  4. Comparing between overall real-time data with real-time filtered data have been introduced
Now discussing the improvements in depth
Real-time Events Reports
With this feature you can now filter on event categories too. Previously you were just able to see the top level events. To see the report, click on Real-Time and then click on the Events Section. Now you will be able to see all event category and event actions. This will tell the source of visitors which you desired to see when setting up the filters.
Real-time from different devices
There are variety of different screens in this world which includes desktops, tablets and mobiles. Now you can see from which devise your visitors are accessing your site in real-time. You can filter your real-time results by devices when you are present in the content report.
Creating shortcuts for your important real-time segments
I actually hate when every time I have to setup the filters. Now the third very nice improvement which I personally loved is that we can now create shortcut to store favorite segments. The next time I come, I can open up shortcuts from the left navigation menu and can access to any previously saved shortcut.
Comparing real-time vs. overall data
Comparing page views of your segmented visitors with overall traffic is another improvement, providing convenience to see quick comparison trends. Considering an example here, let’s suppose you publish something new, and then in your filers select the “mobile” device. Why because mobile traffic is much faster than any other device. So you can see the initial traffic coming from mobile devices.
So let’s start playing with these cool new features.
