How to Conduct Keyword Research for SEO

The most important words in the life of a blogger are, without doubt, keywords. They determine how many people will actually access the writer’s content. One may be an extremely good writer, however, the lack of keywords that are good enough may create issues for the blogger in terms of little or no audience for the blogger’s post. The importance of keywords is thus of paramount magnitude for the writer. However, this is also the most technical bit of the writer’s whole writing experience as these keywords need to be selected with great accuracy and after a lot of research. Today, I will be talking about how an individual can choose the right keywords for his or her blog.
The first thing you need to do is to find out what your analytics have in store for you. Take into consideration not only the branded keywords that bring you your traffic but also the unbranded keywords that are essential in directing a certain amount of traffic to your website. This brings us to yet another very important aspect of the story; your keywords may attract traffic but they may not necessarily increase the conversion rate of your traffic. i.e. they may not actually increase the number of people who subscribe to your service or pay for your good. This however, does not imply that these words are not good keywords. They are still useful keywords simply because they make your rankings go high with the search engines.
The next thing you need to do is conduct intensive research regarding your keywords. There are various tools that you can actually opt from, however,  my personal favorite is the Google Keyword Research tool. I believe that with the help of this particular tool, your search for the right keywords can finally come to an end.

However, nothing is perfect on its own; your input is required at every step. This tool may give you a number of options that are simply not useful for your website simply because it will give you a number of variants for the keyword that you add. Many of these variants may not be of any value to your website. In order to avoid any issues with the appropriateness for the keywords, I suggest that you thoroughly analyze the results of this tool.
The process of the selection of keywords is of paramount importance to the bloggers who are aware of the basic importance of keywords. This process may seem simple; however, this is not the case. The process is extremely technical and requires certain analytic expertise on the blogger’s end. Keywords are one of the most important components of SEO without which, the clog can suffer greatly.
Organized spreadsheets help greatly!
In order to be able to conduct an organized, useful keyword search, you must first create a spreadsheet that will help you organize everything. Create a spreadsheet in which you list the name and the URL of every page that is present on the website. This will help you see the keywords that you need per page at a glance. The procedure will prove to be highly time efficient and organized. Furthermore, for each URL, make two sections; one section which will list all the keywords that are attracting traffic to your page and one section of potential keywords i.e. words that are currently generating good amounts of traffic.
Current keyword data also helps
You are obviously using analytics in order to monitor the progress of your website. In order to benefit further from your analytics, be sure to pull in data from your keywords and assess whether these keywords are attracting traffic to your website or not. If the aren’t, it means that you are not doing a very good job with your keyword research.
Don’t forget potential keywords
Potential keywords are the words that will become keywords once your existing keywords can no longer be of much use. Never underestimate the power of potential keywords . Be sure to brainstorm your potential keywords in order to assess whether these potential keywords have reached the point where they can become actual keywords or not.
Keyword research tools help
As always, I will recommend you to use a keyword research tool. There are various tools available, however, my personal favorite is the Google keyword research tool. With the help of such rules, you can do wonders when it comes to keyword research.
Get rid of extras
Make sure that you check your list and get rid of any extra keywords that aren’t of much use. Be sure to eliminate them from the list.
