How to Monitor your Internet Connection

Follow the simple steps:

Goto Start button,
Type run or press Windows+R button
Type “ping -t 8.8.8.8″ without the quotes, and hit enter

or you can also open Command Prompt
To open, Goto Start button, type "CMD" and hit enter
Type “ping -t 8.8.8.8″ without the quotes, and hit enter.

This will automatically starts monitoring your Internet connection.

Here “-t” switch is important as it means that the ping command will run forever unless stopped manually by hitting Ctrl + C and (8.8.8.8 is Google’s DNS Server)

The output of the ping command is shown in the above picture. As its status show that “reply from 8.8.8.8,” this means that machine is live or the connection is available. And as its says "Request timed out." this means the connection is down.
