What Does Facebook Send Do Differently from Facebook Like?

Clicking a Facebook Like button basically sends a message out to all of your Facebook friends' news feeds and puts a note on your Facebook wall, letting everyone know that you like whatever it is that you clicked.

Clicking Facebook Send, by contrast, triggers a pop-up box that allows you to craft and send a short message with a link to individual Facebook friends, Facebook groups, or any e-mail address.

In effect, the Send button is designed to replace the "email to a friend" buttons. Previously, Facebook also had a "Share" button, but t didn't catch on the way the Like button has.

Facebook Send also is designed to enhance Facebook Groups, a feature the network rolled out in October 2010 to let people communicate with select groups of people. The selective sharing feature of the Send button makes it easier to send private messages to groups with a few clicks.
